Castle To Coast Triathlon
The Castle To Coast Triathlon is a non-competitive, point-to-point endurance event that travels from Windsor to the Brighton sea front. Classified as a "sportive" triathlon, it focuses on the journey rather than racing rules, allowing for relaxed start times and fewer equipment restrictions. Participants can complete the entire course individually or as part of a relay team of two or three people.
The event consists of three distinct stages:
- 1.2 mile lake swim at Dorney Lake near Windsor.
- 67 mile bike ride through the Surrey Hills and rural villages.
- 14 mile trail run across the South Downs to Brighton.
The route is fully supported with mechanical assistance, medical teams, and marked navigation arrows throughout. Logistics are provided for participants, including bag transfers between stops and a finish line meal. For those requiring transportation back to the start, a return transport service from Brighton to Windsor is available for booking.
The journey traverses the North and South Downs, offering views of the countryside and landmarks toward London and Brighton. The trail run section features minimal tarmac, focusing on natural terrain. Participants must meet specific time cut-offs for each leg to complete the event within the total 11.5-hour time limit. Solo entry is open to individuals aged 18 and over, while team entry is open to those aged 16 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
