Event overview
Castle to Coast Triathlon is a point-to-point event from Dorney Lake near Windsor to Brighton Sea Front. The course is completed by swim, bike, and run. Distances are:
- 1.2 mile lake swim
- 67 miles bike through the Surrey Hills
- 14 miles trail run across the South Downs to Brighton sea front
The next scheduled race date is 18/07/2026.
Format and logistics
The event is organised as a sportive triathlon, which means it is non-competitive and not governed by the usual British Triathlon competition rules. This format allows nonstandard distances, relaxed starts, and fewer equipment restrictions. The event provides on-course support including route signage, mechanics, medical teams, and route managers. Participant bags are available at stops and a finish line meal is provided.
A return transport option is available to take participants and kit from the finish at Brighton back to Windsor. There is also a team option for teams of two or three that requires a support car; teams use a timing chip handover in transition and must transfer people and equipment between stages as described by the organisers. Time cutoffs are set for each stage: the swim within 1 hour 20 minutes, the bike within 7.5 hours, and the run within 11.5 hours of the event start.
