Castle To Coast Triathlon
Castle To Coast is a point to point triathlon that starts at Dorney Lake near Windsor and finishes on Brighton seafront. The route combines open-water swimming, road cycling through the Surrey Hills, and a trail run across the South Downs.
The event format and distances:
- 1.2 mile lake swim
- 67 miles cycle through the Surrey Hills
- 14 mile trail run to Brighton seafront
The event is organised as a sportive triathlon, which means it is non competitive and not governed by the usual British Triathlon competition rules. This allows non standard distances, relaxed starts, and fewer equipment restrictions. The organisers provide course support including directional arrows, mechanics, medical cover, and experienced route managers. Event logistics include baggage provision at stops and a finish line meal.
A return transport ticket is available to take participants and kit from Brighton back to Windsor. There is also a team entry option for two or three people that requires a car for self support during the handover process; the swimmer, cyclist, and runner coordinate transfers and pass a timing chip in the transition village.
Time cutoffs apply for each discipline: the swim within 1 hour 20 minutes, the bike within 7.5 hours, and the run within 11.5 hours. Entry prices range from £265 to £293 and minimum ages apply for entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
