Castle To Coast Triathlon
Castle to Coast is a point to point triathlon that travels from Dorney Lake near Windsor to Brighton Sea Front by swim, bike and run. The course begins with an open 1.2 mile lake swim, follows a 67 mile bike route through the Surrey Hills and continues with a 14 mile trail run across the South Downs to the seafront in Brighton.
The event is organised as a sportive triathlon and is non competitive; it is not governed by British Triathlon competition rules. The format includes non standard distances, relaxed starts and fewer equipment restrictions compared with traditional races. Cutoffs are set for each discipline and the event is supported by route arrows, mechanics, medical teams and experienced route managers. Participant bags are managed between stops and a finish line meal is provided.
A ticketed return transport option is available to carry participants and kit from Brighton seafront back to Windsor. A team entry option allows 2 or 3 people to share the disciplines; teams must provide a car to move team members and equipment between stages. During team entries the swimmer hands the timing chip to the cyclist in the transition village and team members coordinate transfers before the final run into Brighton.
