Castle to Castle ULTRA 36
The Castle to Castle ULTRA 36 is a 36 mile point to point event from Clitheroe Castle to Lancaster Castle in Lancashire. The route is fully marked and registered participants receive route maps, the GPX file and final instructions shortly before the event. The course includes largely trail terrain but also passes through some urban areas and road crossings where runners may need to slow or stop. A maximum completion time of 10 hours applies.
Support on course includes six checkpoints, each providing water and cordial, with four checkpoints offering a selection of supplementary snacks. Stocked aid stations, regular checkpoints, participant tracking and chip timing are provided. Return transport to Clitheroe is available for runners only for an additional £10 and can be purchased during registration.
Entry requires pre-registration, entry closes 11 July 2027 unless the event limit is reached, and there are no entries on the day. Entry fee is £65 and minimum age is 18 years. Ultra event deferrals and transfers to another runner cost £10 and must be completed no later than one calendar month before the event.
Race pack collection is in person and a mandatory kit check applies. Mandatory kit to be carried from start to finish includes a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a spare long sleeved base layer, a water bottle or bladder with at least 1 litre capacity, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle.
