Castle Race Series - Lough Cutra Castle Multisport Event
The Lough Cutra Castle Multisport Event takes place on the grounds of Lough Cutra Castle in County Galway and uses the estate and lake for open-water swims. The weekend programme includes a range of multisport and single-discipline races across triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, aquathlon, swim and run formats, with distances available from starter to elite levels.
Race formats and sample distances include:
- Gauntlet triathlon: 1.9K swim / 90K cycle / 21K run
- Olympic triathlon: 1.5K swim / 40K cycle / 10.5K run
- Sprint triathlon: 750M swim / 20K cycle / 5K run
- Marathon run: 42.2K
- Open-water swim events: 5K, 2.5K, 1 mile
The event is sanctioned by Triathlon Ireland; competitors must hold a valid membership licence or purchase a Triathlon Ireland One Day Membership. The venue offers a festival village with live music, food and drink, shopping, children’s entertainment and yoga, plus a family campsite in the castle grounds with paid pitches. Event services include official photography, wetsuit hire, event merchandise, medals with name/time inserts, coaching packages, and volunteer opportunities. Alzheimer’s Research UK is the event charity partner and fundraising places are available. Ferry partner discounts are provided to competitors for travel to Ireland.
