The Carsington Hill Race is an evening fell race scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026. It is part of the Carsington & Hopton Village Festival and is organized by Carsington & Hopton C.A.R.E.
Race Details
The route is 9.5 km (6 miles) long with 230 m (775 ft) of ascent. It runs under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules, with FRA Race Licence Number 2026-10116. The minimum age to participate is 18. The course features varied terrain, including steep hills, rough pasture, footpaths, and tracks, with two road crossings. It tours ancient mined landscapes and modern turbines on Carsington Pasture, and includes a downhill finish. Runners can expect views across the Peak District and Carsington Water.
Logistics
Registration opens at 6:00 PM at the pavilion on the School Field, Back Lane, Carsington Village. The race start time is 7:00 PM. Free parking is available at Sheepwash Carpark from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, courtesy of Severn Trent Water. Food, cake, and a bar are available at the pavilion after the event. No dogs are allowed on the race course.
Entry Information
Entry fees are £10.00. Entries open on Saturday, December 20, 2025, and close on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Entries may also be accepted on the day if space allows. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
