Carsington Hill Race
Carsington Hill Race is an evening fell race held as part of the Carsington & Hopton Village Festival and organised by Carsington & Hopton CARE in aid of village facilities. The event is based at the pavilion on the School Field, Back Lane, Carsington Village, Matlock.
The route passes through ancient mined landscape and past modern turbines on Carsington Pasture, with views across the Peak District and Carsington Water. The course includes steep hills, rough pasture, footpaths and tracks, two road crossings and a downhill finish. Total ascent is 230 m (775 ft).
The distance is 9.5 km (6 miles). The event will be run under FRA rules and holds FRA Race Licence Number 2026-10116. Minimum age is 18 on the event date. Entry fee is £10.00 and entries open and close on the published dates; entries on the day may be possible if numbers allow.
Free parking is available at Sheepwash Car Park from 17:00 to 22:00 courtesy of Severn Trent Water. Food, cake and a bar are available afterwards at the pavilion on the School Field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
