Carsington Hill Race - 22 May 2026

Carsington Hill Race takes place in Carsington Village and forms part of the Carsington & Hopton Village Festival. Registration and post-race facilities are at the pavilion on the School Field, Back Lane.

The course is 9.5 km (6 miles) with 230 m (775 ft) of ascent. The route tours ancient mined landscape and modern turbines on Carsington Pasture, with views across the Peak District and Carsington Water. The terrain includes steep hills, rough pasture, footpaths, tracks and two road crossings, and it features a downhill finish.

The event is organised by Carsington & Hopton CARE in aid of village facility development and is sponsored by Longcliffe. It will be run under FRA rules, licence number 2026-10116. The minimum age is 18. Entry fee is £10. Entries open 20 December 2025 and close 20 May 2026; entries on the day may be possible if numbers allow.

Free parking is available at Sheepwash Car Park courtesy of Severn Trent Water. Dogs are not allowed on the race. Food, cake and a bar are provided afterwards at the pavilion on the School Field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
