Carrauntoohil
Carrauntoohil is a mountain running event held in County Kerry on Sunday 6th September 2026. The course covers 13.70 km with 1,126 m of climb and is classified as Event Difficulty 10, Extreme, which denotes over 1,000 m ascent or over 30 km.
The route is not marked and GPS use is allowed. The event forms part of the Munster Championship and the Irish Championship. Entry places show 0 of 250 entered. Entries open Monday 31st August 2026 at 21:00 and close Saturday 5th September 2026 at 18:00. Entry fees are listed as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s.
Mandatory kit is Level C Advanced and includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams; hat or buff; gloves; whistle; charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored; foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent; waterproof full leg cover; means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water; emergency food; map of the route or area; and a compass. All runners must bring these items. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day depending on conditions and will be advised at Registration.
