Carrauntoohil
Carrauntoohil is a mountain running event in County Kerry held on Sunday 6th September, 2026. The course covers 13.70 km with 1,126 m of climb and is classified as Event Difficulty 10 Extreme. The route is not marked and GPS devices are not allowed.
Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 31st August 2026 at 21:00 and close Saturday 5th September 2026 at 18:00. The event has 50 places; current entries are shown as 0 of 50 entered. The race forms part of the Munster Championship and the Irish Championship.
Mandatory kit is Level C Advanced and all runners must bring: a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL water, emergency food, map of the route or area, and a compass. The exact kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day and advised at Registration. Runners should have the means to carry all required kit.
