Carnavaddy : event information
Carnavaddy takes place on Wednesday 22 July 2026 in Ravensdale Forest, County Louth. The event is part of the Leinster League. The long course is 10.00 km with 450 m of climb. The short course is 5.00 km; the short route has about 300 m of elevation. Event difficulty is listed as 6 (Moderate Terrain, 200 m - 500 m ascent, 6 km - 10 km). The route is fully marked and GPS use is not allowed.

Course and logistics
Long course route: starts just after the forest barrier. The first kilometre is on a fire road before a gate onto the open mountain. A single track contours around Round Mountain to a grassy track that climbs to the forest edge. The route turns right to summit Castle Hill, continues over the summit, then follows small distinct and indistinct paths for 2.4 km to the large cairn at Carnavaddy. Runners descend an indistinct grassy trail to forest and a 500 m fire road, then follow the top of Foyle's Way for its 2 km length alongside a stream to the finish.
Short course route: starts about 1 km after the long course start on the open mountain, follows the long course to the Castle Hill summit, then turns left 200 m beyond the summit onto a large track that cuts through to the forest and rejoins the long course on Foyle's Way to the finish.
Parking is in a disused quarry about 100 m south of The Lumpers pub on the right-hand side (Eircode A91 FN2W). START is 1 km from parking and 800 m from registration at The Lumpers Pub. Registration takes place at the tented area at the back of the pub. Prizegiving and refreshments are at The Lumpers Pub.
Mandatory Level B kit must be carried: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag or equivalent. Annual registration fee (€10) must be completed online if the runner has not already registered for the year. Failure to carry required kit may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
