2027 Carderock 5k & 10k
The event offers two distances that run along the C&O Canal towpath at Carderock Recreation Area in Potomac, MD. Each route is an out-and-back on a light gravel dirt trail with minimal elevation gains. The course is described as fast and flat.
Points from this race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Walkers are welcome.

Participants receive a finisher medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and chip timing. Water stations are placed approximately at mile 1.55 on the 5k, and at miles 1.55, 2.7, 3.5 and 4.65 on the 10k; Gatorade is available at some stations. Restrooms are located by the main parking lot. Packet pickup is available at the event and on-site registration is not offered.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place men and women in standard age categories from 19 and under through 70 plus; overall top three finishers are not eligible for age-group prizes. Live results will be posted on Athlinks with a race QR code for immediate access and final results with series points will be posted the Monday after the race.
Parking is available in four Carderock lots. The event location GPS pin is 38.972563, -77.198738. Volunteers are asked to arrive about one hour before races to receive assignments. The organizer does not allow banditing and may remove or disqualify unauthorized participants. The organizer follows an all-weather policy but may delay, change, or cancel the event for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
