Carderock 5k & 10k
The Carderock 5k and 10k takes place on February 28, 2027, at Carderock Recreation Area in Potomac, Maryland along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath. The event awards series points toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series and also counts toward the Fall Series.

Both routes are out-and-back on a light gravel dirt trail with minimal elevation gain. The course is described as fast and flat. The 10k route includes four water stations at approximately miles 1.55, 2.7, 3.5 and 4.65; the 5k includes one water station at about mile 1.55. Some stations will offer Gatorade.
The event is chip timed. Participants receive a finisher’s medal and a technical event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for those registered before February 17. Walkers are welcome and a virtual race option is available. Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before the event to check in. There will be no on-site race registration.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall, and to first and second place in age groups 19 & under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. Top three overall are not eligible for age group awards. Live results are posted online and final results with series points are published the Monday after the race.
Parking is available in four lots within the recreation area; the event location is given by GPS 38.972563, -77.198738. The organizer operates as an all-weather race company and may delay, change, or cancel the event for safety or weather reasons. Banditing is not allowed.
