2027 Carderock 5k and 10k
Bishops Events stages a community race at Carderock Recreation Area along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath in Potomac, MD. The event offers two distances:
- 5k
- 10k
All routes run on a light gravel dirt trail and are out-and-back with minimal elevation gains. Organizers describe the course as fast and flat. Walkers are welcome, and a virtual race option is also available.
On-course support includes four water stations on the 10k at approximately mile markers 1.55, 2.7, 3.5 and 4.65, and one water station on the 5k at about mile 1.55; Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are located by the main parking lot. There is parking within the recreation area across four lots; organizers provide a GPS pin for the event location (38.972563, -77.198738).
The event uses chip timing. Live results appear on Athlinks and via a QR code at the race; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the event. Registered finishers receive a finisher medal and a technical (drifit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for those registered before February 17 and extra shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Points from the race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to top finishers in standard age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
