Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN Memorial Scholarship 5k Run/Walk
The event is an annual 5k run and walk held in Sandwich, Massachusetts, supporting the Captain Gerald F. DeConto Memorial Scholarship Fund. It takes place on September 20, 2026, with in-person and virtual participation options.
The in-person course is a scenic 3.1 mile route around the Sandwich Marina and beach area that finishes back at the Stop & Shop Plaza on Route 6A. Runners and walkers are both accepted. Official timing is provided by Spitler Race Systems.
The virtual option allows participants to run or walk at any location on September 19 or September 20, with virtual results posted separately from the in-person results. Virtual participants may request a race T-shirt by mail.
Registration can be completed online, by mail, or in person. The event supports an ongoing scholarship fund that has awarded scholarships since 2002 in memory of Captain DeConto.
