Capital City Race
The Capital City Race is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Jefferson City, Missouri. The event is organized as a community running event to raise awareness for mental health and to honor the memory of a person who died from mental illness in November 2021. The course tours landmarks near the Missouri State Capitol at 201 W. Capitol Ave, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
Entry fees vary by distance and include a race shirt, medal, bib, and a swag bag; those items are guaranteed only to participants who register by May 1, 2026. Packet pickup is available the day before the race and on race day at the Missouri State Capitol; a pre-race pickup location is listed as TBD.
Awards are planned for top three overall finishers by gender in each distance and for age-group winners in standard age brackets. Free parking is available in nearby State of Missouri parking lots at Missouri Boulevard & West Main Street and Missouri Boulevard & West High Street.
Proceeds and sponsorship support local recovery and mental health initiatives, including Cole County Treatment Courts, a children’s education fund in the person’s memory, meals and graduation events for treatment court participants, motivational speakers, recovery supplies, Crisis Intervention Team funding for first responders, and housing support. A host hotel, Courtyard Jefferson City at 610 Bolivar Street, is listed with nearby walking access to the start area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
