Cape Egmont Half Marathon, Taranaki
The Cape Egmont Half Marathon is a point to point 21.8 km run or walk held on Sunday 12 July 2026. The route starts in Okato and finishes near the Cape Egmont Boat Club beside the Cape Egmont Lighthouse, passing through rural Taranaki countryside.
Participants may enter solo for the full 21.8 km or as a two person relay. The team changeover is at the top of Mid Newall Road at the 11.4 km mark; the second team member then covers the remaining 10.4 km to the finish. Drink stations are located approximately at 4.6 km, 11.4 km and 15.7 km.
Race headquarters is the Coastal Taranaki School gymnasium on Carthew Street in Okato. Parking is available near Anglers Avenue, Warea and will be managed by marshals; Bayly Road operates as a one way road for competitor safety during the event. Race numbers are allocated to all competitors and race packs can be collected in the days before the event.
Entry fees include an early bird price of $50 until 31 May 2026, standard entry after that, and a flat rate of $80 for two person teams. Eligibility requires participants to be 14 years or older on 12 July 2026; entrants aged 14 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is also entered. Baby buggies, pets and earphones are not permitted on the course. Proceeds support the Taranaki Cancer Society and Gabby's Starlit Hope.
