Canton Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk
The Canton Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk is organized as part of Juneteenth observances to mark the date when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing remaining enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. The Pine Grove Association sponsors the event to commemorate that history while highlighting Canton's local history and encouraging healthier lifestyles through movement.
