Event Overview
The Cantigny 5K Run/Walk is a charity event benefiting the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. The race takes place at Cantigny, a 500-acre estate in Wheaton, Illinois, featuring gardens, museums, and a golf course. Registration includes access to the grounds for the rest of the afternoon.
Race Details
The primary event is a chip-timed 5K run/walk open to participants of any age. Two untimed children's runs are also offered:
- 1-Mile Run for ages 6-10.
- 1/4-Mile Run for ages 0-5.
The course tours the grounds of Cantigny and its golf course, passing by Cantigny’s Gardens, the Robert R. McCormick House, and the First Division Museum. Due to construction, the course is modified for the current year. Water stations are provided at the halfway point and the start/finish line, and digital clocks are placed at mile markers.
Registration & Logistics
Registration for the 5K is tiered, starting at $25 and increasing as the event date approaches. The children's runs each cost $5. Packet pickup is available the day before and on race morning at the Visitors Center. Parking is free for registered participants.
A post-race awards ceremony recognizes the top three overall male and female finishers for each event. An optional pancake breakfast is available on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
