Mount Cass Station : Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series
Mount Cass Station is Event 2 in the Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series, held near Waipara where the wine region meets the Pacific coastline. The course runs across farmland and public tracks featuring limestone outcrops, hills, bush gullies, creek crossings, mud and slippery grass. Runners can expect sustained climbs, technical descents, and views across the Waipara district, Mount Grey, Pegasus Bay, Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. Weather may change the exact route.
Distances and elevation options:
- Slope Sprint 5.7 km, 240 m elevation gain
- Midi Mountains 11 km, 430 m elevation gain
- Epic Endurance 19.3 km, 810 m elevation gain
Aid stations are provided only on the Midi and Epic courses and offer electrolyte drink and plain water. No disposable cups are supplied so competitors must carry their own cup or bottle. Food will be available for purchase from a fundraising group at the event village on Symonds Road, Waipara; cash only.
Each course has a compulsory gear list. Requirements include a fully waterproof jacket with hood, mobile phone, thermal layers and sufficient water or nutrition with minimum volumes varying by course. Organizers may adjust gear requirements or alter the course for weather and may perform random gear checks. Entry fees are listed on the Entry Info page.
