Event overview

The Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge takes place on 16 May 2026 at Tackeroo Campsite, Penkridge Bank Rd, Rugeley (Cannock Chase). The event offers three trail distances:

  • 10 km
  • 13.1 miles (half marathon)
  • 26.2 miles (full marathon)

A Marathon Relay is also offered for teams of two, with each runner completing one half-marathon lap. Entry fees for the main categories are listed in the event information and the event is strictly limited to 500 entries. Age restrictions apply: the 10 km is open to those aged 14 and over, the half marathon to those aged 16 and over, and the full marathon to those aged 18 and over.

Course and logistics

All routes are 100% off-road on undulating trails and include singletrack sections and hard stone tracks. The 10 km and half marathon are single-lap courses; the full marathon is two laps of the same route. Water stations are provided approximately every 4 miles and distance markers are placed every mile. Parking is off-road, free, and about 100 metres from the start/finish arena. Facilities at the site include toilets, catering, photographer with free download, free camping (Friday and Saturday evenings), and secure bag storage. Prizes and finisher items include medals, goodie bags, and podium prizes for top positions and select categories. Spectators can view the figure-of-eight course from the arena and several nearby points on the route. Trail shoes are recommended due to uneven and potentially muddy surfaces.
