About the race
The Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge 2027 is a trail running event held at Tackeroo Campsite in Cannock Chase National Landscape. It offers multiple race formats across off-road terrain and forest tracks.
- 10 km one lap, 100% off-road
- 13.1 miles half marathon, one lap, figure-of-eight course
- 26.2 miles marathon, two laps of the half marathon route
- Marathon relay teams of two, each runs one 13.1-mile lap
All courses are 100% off-road and undulating with challenging climbs, singletrack sections, flowing descents and stretches of open heathland. The half marathon uses a figure-of-eight layout that returns close to the event arena several times. Water stations are provided at approximately four-mile intervals and distance markers appear every mile. Marathon entrants must begin their second lap within 3 hours 30 minutes of the race start.
Event facilities include free parking approximately 100 metres from the arena, toilets, catering, bag storage and camping available on the Friday and Saturday evenings. Official event photographs are available to download free of charge. Every finisher receives a medal and goodie bag. Prize categories include 1st to 3rd male and female, plus veteran awards and spot prizes.
Organisers recommend proper trail running shoes with good grip due to variable conditions and uneven ground. Entry places are limited to 500 and advance prices range from about £17.50 to £40. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
