Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge
The Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge is a trail running event held at Tackeroo Campsite in Cannock Chase. The event offers three distances:
- 10 km
- 13.1 miles (half marathon)
- 26.2 miles (full marathon)
All courses are 100% off road and undulating, combining rolling terrain, hard stone tracks, and singletrack sections. The route follows a figure of eight around the start and finish arena and includes valleys, ridge sections, Brindley Heath with stream and open heathland, and a number of climbs and descents. The half is a single lap and the full covers two laps. Water stations are provided every four miles and there are distance markers every mile.
Facilities at the arena include toilets, catering, photographer with free downloads, free parking about 100 metres from the start, and free camping on Friday and Saturday evening. Bag storage is available. Race numbers are collected on the day and under 18s must have a parent or guardian sign on their behalf.
Prizes are awarded to top finishers in male, female, and veteran categories and canicross placings apply to the half marathon. All finishers receive a medal and goodie bag. Entry is strictly limited to 500. Cancellations are accepted up to two weeks before the event with a five pound administration fee and entry transfers carry a one pound surcharge.
