Canberra Day Appeal Fun Run : Commonwealth Park, Parkes ACT

The Canberra Day Appeal Fun Run is a community running event hosted by the ACT Government in partnership with the Stromlo Running Festival. It takes place from Stage 88 at Commonwealth Park and follows a route around Lake Burley Griffin. Revenue from the event is donated to Hands Across Canberra to support local charities and community projects.

The event offers the following race distances:

  • 10 km race
  • 5 km race

All participants in the 10 km and 5 km events receive a finisher medal. Children must be accompanied by a guardian while on course, and guardians accompanying children must also be registered participants. There is no baggage service, so participants are advised to carry necessary personal items. Toilets are available at the start and finish lines and at public locations around the course. On-course water fountains will be available and an additional water station is located at Rond Terrace.

The organisers ask participants to follow medical and safety guidance, including sun protection, adequate hydration, and avoiding music devices while on the course so they remain aware of others. Volunteers are stationed along the route and first aid can be summoned at the start and finish areas. Parking is available at several nearby car parks and accessible parking is provided at Regatta Place, though space may be limited. There are no transfers or refunds for this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
