7th Annual Canal Day 5K
The Canal Day 5K is scheduled for September 19, 2026 with a rain date of September 20, 2026. The event is held at the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area, 90 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, MA, and the course runs along the water on the Canal Service Road. Proceeds from the 2026 race will benefit the Gleason Family YMCA in Wareham.
Registration for 2026 is open with tiered pricing: $25 for registrations through May 31, 2026; $30 from June 1 through September 18, 2026; and $35 on race day. The t-shirt deadline is the end of day Sunday, August 30, 2026 so registrants must register before that date to be eligible for a shirt.
Awards are presented to overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers, plus 1st place male and female in these age groups: 10 & under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Walkers are welcome and running strollers are asked to start near the back.
Bib pickup and on-site registration are available Friday, September 18 from 3pm - 5pm at the Cape Cod Canal Chamber Office, 70 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, and beginning Saturday, September 19 at the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area. All race day parking is in the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area lot; vendors will be using the lot during the day as part of Canal Day activities.
