Canal Day 5K - Buzzards Bay, MA
The Canal Day 5K is held as part of Cape Cod Canal Day and is hosted by the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce. The event takes place on September 19, 2026, at the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area, 90 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, MA.
The course runs along the water on the Canal Service Road. Race day parking is located at the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area lot at 90 Main Street. The broader Cape Cod Canal Day schedule includes food trucks, craft beer and wine, kids activities, arts and craft vendors and live entertainment.
Bib pickup and on-site registration are available at the Cape Cod Canal Chamber Office, 70 Main Street, Buzzards Bay on Friday, September 18, and at the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area on Saturday, September 19. The t-shirt deadline for registrations is Sunday, August 30. Walkers are welcome and running strollers are asked to start in the back.
Awards are presented to overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers, and 1st place male and female in the age groups 10 & under; 11-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70+. Proceeds from the 2026 race will benefit the Gleason Family YMCA in Wareham. If Canal Day events are moved to the rain date of September 20, 2026, the race will also be moved.
