Distances

The Cambridge Mill Race offers two distances:

  • 8 km: A chip-timed race.
  • 1 km: A non-timed run for children aged 1 to 12, called the Kids Chipmunk Chase.

Course

The 8 km course is an out-and-back route on the Walter Bean Grand River Trail, which is part of the Trans Canada Trail system. The surface is primarily hard-packed dirt and stone dust with some asphalt sections. The turn-around point is on a paved bike path alongside Blair Road.

Water stations are available at the start/finish area and at approximately the 4 km mark on the 8 km course. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottle, but compostable cups will be provided.

Services and Awards

All participants receive a post-race lunch provided by The Cambridge Mill, with a meal ticket included in the race kit. Post-race massages are offered by Parke Massage Therapy. Complimentary coffee is provided by Grand Café.

Each participant receives a Cambridge Mill Race medal and a special branded souvenir. For the 8 km race, awards are given to the top overall male, female, and non-binary finishers.

Charity

The event supports Pollinator Partnership Canada, a registered charity dedicated to pollinator protection. Any funds raised in excess of event costs are donated to this charity.

Accessibility and Practical Information

The event is welcoming to all and accommodations are available for participants with specific needs. There is no participant parking at Riverbluffs Park; parking is available on nearby streets, such as George Street. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
