CAC Root Beer Float Run
The CAC Root Beer Float Run takes place in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, at Busse Woods Grove #27. This family-oriented event supports the Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County, an organization dedicated to helping children who have experienced violence. Participants can choose from several event distances:
- 10k
- 5k
- Virtual 5K
- Kids 50-Yard Dash
The event is designed to accommodate participants of all ages. Children through age 12 can register for the 5k at a reduced rate, and the 50-yard dash is specifically available for younger runners. Registration for the 5k and 10k includes an event t-shirt and a custom finisher medal. Those who register by May 23 are guaranteed their preferred t-shirt size.
After finishing their respective courses, all participants receive a complimentary root beer float. The event welcomes strollers, with a request for those pushing them to begin the race toward the back of the group. While the local police department provides comfort dogs for the event, personal pets are not permitted on the course. Packet pickup is available both the day before the event at the Children's Advocacy Center in Hoffman Estates and on-site at Busse Woods the morning of the race.
