Byron Rainforest Run 2026
Byron Rainforest Run is a trail running event on 27 June 2026 organised by Byron Bay Runners at Minyon Falls in Nightcap National Park. The route traverses World Heritage rainforest, a remnant of the Big Scrub, on slopes formed by the Wollumbin shield volcano and volcanic terrain.
Distances
- 13.1 km Nightcap Nudge, 496 m elevation, minimum age 14
- 26.5 km Postie's Round, 921 m elevation, minimum age 16
- 50.8 km Minyon Ultra, 2,002 m elevation, minimum age 18
Courses mix single track and graded fire trails with multiple water crossings and steep ascents. Notable features include ridgeline views toward Minyon Falls, sections along Repentance Creek, escarpment outlooks and varied rainforest ecology. The courses are the same as the 2025 event and are marked with coloured tape approximately every 300 to 400 metres.
Logistics include aid stations at the event hub and roughly every 6 to 8 kilometres. Competitors must download an offline map app and the GPX route and carry mandatory equipment. A heavy duty pressure immobilisation snake bandage is required for all distances. Longer distances require additional items such as 1 litre of water and a headlamp for the ultra. The event is run as a leave no trace event with a focus on sustainability.
