Buxworth 5 Road Race
The event is a certified 5 mile single-lap road race run on country lanes. The course includes several climbs totaling about 880 ft (268 m), with the final mile noticeably steeper than the rest of the route.
Race headquarters is The Paper Mill Inn, Whitehough, SK23 6EJ. Numbers are issued on the night of the race.
Prizes are offered separately for female and male finishers: 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall, and first in age categories V40, V45, V50, V55, V60, V65 and V70. A £50 cash prize is available to winners who break the course record; recorded course times include 27:21 and 30:39, both listed for 2023.
Headphones are not permitted. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.
The organiser operates a sustainability incentive: a £2 drinks voucher is given to participants who travel by public transport, or who walk, cycle or run to the start, or who car share with four or more people.
