Course Details
The event features a single 5K (3.1-mile) course. The route is completely paved and runs along the Island Lake Trail at Island Lake State Park. The scenic course showcases fall colors at their peak.
Registration and Perks
Registration includes a chip-timed run with live results, a dri-fit participant t-shirt (offered in Michigan-themed and MSU-themed designs), a finisher medal (also team-themed), and free race photos. Overall and age group awards are presented. Post-race refreshments are provided.
Packet pick-up takes place on race day at the Island Lake Recreation Area.
Theme and Challenge
The event coincides with the day of the football game between the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite team gear (maize and blue or green and white). A "Battle for Bunyan Challenge" awards the Paul Bunyan Trophy to the team (Michigan or Michigan State) with the lowest cumulative time from their top four fastest male and female finishers.
