Bunyan Battle 5K Run/Walk
The Bunyan Battle 5K Run/Walk is the second annual event at Island Lake State Park in Brighton, Michigan, held on November 7, 2026. Entry to the park requires a Michigan State Park pass.
The event uses a paved out and back course on the Island Lake Trail that covers approximately 5 kilometers and highlights fall foliage along the route. The program includes both in-person 5K races and virtual 5K options.
Race entries include chip timing with live results, a commemorative race bib, a custom finisher medal, overall and age group awards, a custom dri-fit race shirt with an optional tank top upgrade for an additional $5, free race photos, and post-race refreshments. Packet pick-up is handled at Island Lake Recreation Area on race day.
Virtual registrations receive a custom shirt and medal and have race packets shipped; shipping timing depends on shirt availability and the participant location. Virtual registration results will not be published.
Participants are encouraged to wear University of Michigan or Michigan State fan gear as part of the event atmosphere. The event is presented as a run and walk that coincides with local game day activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
