Buffalo Marathon Weekend
Buffalo Marathon Weekend is held on Memorial Day Weekend in Western New York and marked its 25th anniversary. The event program includes multiple race options across a weekend format:
- Full Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- Kids Mini Marathon
- Ruffalo Stampede
- Diaper Dash

The full marathon course offers views of Lake Erie, KeyBank Center, Forest Lawn Cemetery, and parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The half marathon is described as flat and fast with scenic waterfront views of downtown landmarks. The full and half marathons use a common start and finish that are located less than 900 feet apart, with the finish area directly in front of the Buffalo Convention Center where the expo and post-race party take place.
Event logistics note a nearby host hotel, Embassy Suites by Hilton, and additional hotels and parking close to the start line. Buffalo Niagara Airport is approximately 20 minutes from downtown. The event is an Abbott World Marathon Majors qualifier.
For 2026 the event offers a VIP Experience upgrade that includes priority packet pick-up, an exclusive location with private restrooms, VIP parking, pre- and post-race refreshments, a private recovery zone, special swag, and an exclusive gear check. The VIP package is a non-refundable paid upgrade and a portion of proceeds is donated to Kaleida’s Gates Vascular Institute. Limited edition 25th anniversary Brooks jackets are available for presale and will be available for pickup at the expo. Registration for 2026 is open.
