Event Overview
The Buffalo Marathon Weekend takes place in Buffalo, New York, with activities centered around the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. The 2026 event marks the 25th anniversary of the weekend. The course is described as a fast and scenic route that travels through city streets, local parks, and along waterways. The marathon distance is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
Participants can choose from a wide variety of distances and event types held over two days:
- Marathon: 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles
- 5k Run: 3.1 miles
- 5k Walk: 3.1 miles
- Plogging Run: 2 miles
- Ruffalo Stampede Dog Run: 1 km
- Kids Race: For ages 1-8
- Diaper Dash: For children 2 years old and under
Special registration options include a VIP Experience for the marathon and half marathon distances. This upgrade provide access to a VIP tent or room, private restrooms, priority packet pick-up, and VIP parking. It also includes pre-race and post-race refreshments, a private recovery zone, and specialized gear. Community-focused registrations are also available, where proceeds support cardiac programs at local medical facilities.
A unique 2-mile Plogging Run is also part of the schedule. This activity involves picking up litter while jogging. The event provides garbage bags and gloves for participants and concludes with a gathering in the local entertainment district.
