Buckeye Ultra 200 Mile Road Race
The Buckeye 200 is an approximately 203 mile road run along Ohio route 45 that goes from Walnut Beach at Lake Erie to Wellsville, OH and returns to the beach. The route passes mountain foothills, post‑steel industry cities, Amish country, and lakefront streets. Total climb is just under 6,000 feet, with long flat segments and roughly 70 miles of rolling hills. Runners have a six day time limit which requires an average of about 34 miles per day.
Course support is minimal. Crews are encouraged for overnight sections with limited resources but are not required; many runners complete the course self supported. There are no official aid stations, so participants must obtain supplies via crew or public businesses. Those unable to finish must self extract and may experience delays getting back to their vehicles. Stores and diners are generally available between early morning and late evening, and several hotels are within a few minutes walk of the course.
Awards and options include:
- 203 miles out and back from Walnut Beach to Wellsville
- 100 miles point to point from Wellsville to Walnut Beach, 72 hour cutoff
Finishers receive a large Buckeye 200 buckle and a unique finisher award. The event donates $20 from each paid entry to the Wellsville high school athletic department. The course largely follows Ohio route 45; the final map will be posted and emailed to entrants. Registration closes August 8, and there are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers.
