Bucharest Marathon
The Bucharest Marathon is an established road running event in the Romanian capital that dates back to its first edition in 2008. While the inaugural race took place in the northern parts of the city with limited road closures, the event has since evolved into a major urban competition with multiple race formats.
The event offers a variety of distances for different preferences:
- 42K Race: The full marathon distance.
- 21K Race: A half marathon distance.
- 10K Race: A shorter urban race.
- Relay 4x: A team-based relay event.
- Fun Race 2.5km: A shorter distance intended for general participation.
Participants can benefit from the presence of pacemakers during the races to help them maintain their target speeds. The event also features a Sport Expo, and awards are presented to top performers.
A significant aspect of the Bucharest Marathon is its cooperation with various non-governmental organizations. The event serves as a platform for charitable causes, partnering with numerous foundations and associations dedicated to children's health, autism support, social care for the elderly, and medical research.
