Bucharest Marathon
The Bucharest Marathon is a long-standing athletic event in the Romanian capital, with its inaugural edition dating back to 2008. The event provides a variety of course distances to accommodate different preferences and physical preparation. Participants can choose between several individual and team-based options:
- 42 km (Marathon)
- 21 km (Half Marathon)
- 10 km
- 4x Relay
- 2.5 km (Fun Race)
The event includes a Sport Expo and utilizes a team of pacemakers to assist runners in reaching their specific time targets. It is organized by the Bucharest Running Club and involves numerous charitable partners, allowing for social involvement through various non-governmental organizations.
The race environment has evolved significantly since its inception. While the first edition was situated primarily in the northern part of the city with limited lane closures, contemporary editions integrate more comprehensive routes. Marathon weekend includes an extensive event schedule and a dedicated results system for tracking individual performance across all categories.
