Event overview
The TRAQ Brisbane Trail Marathon Race Day is a trail running event held at Enoggera Reservoir, The Gap, within South D'Aguilar National Park. Courses start and finish at the reservoir in front of the dam wall. Entry fees are: Marathon A$125, TRAQ-25 A$95, Walkabout Creek A$65. TRAQ members receive a 10% discount. Refunds are available up to two weeks before the event less a A$20 administration charge. The event is capped at 300 entrants. Minimum ages: Walkabout Creek 16 years (participants under 16 require organiser permission), TRAQ-25 16 years, Marathon 18 years. All finishers receive a medal.
Courses
- 42.3 km Full Trail Marathon - approx 1,796 m elevation; 7-hour cut-off.
- 25.8 km TRAQ-25 - approx 1,214 m elevation; 5.5-hour cut-off.
- 12.5 km Walkabout Creek - approx 450 m elevation; 3-hour cut-off.
All routes traverse open fire trails and narrow single tracks through eucalypt woodlands and subtropical rainforest. GPX, KML and TCX files and course maps are available via the AllTrails maps referenced by the organiser.
Safety, checkpoints and logistics
Mandatory gear varies by distance: Marathon - capacity to carry 2 litres water; TRAQ-25 - 1.5 litres; Walkabout Creek - 0.5 litres. All races require a mobile phone, a basic first aid kit (compression bandage 7.5 cm x 2.5 m, space blanket, wound dressing 10 cm x 10 cm), a whistle and a soft cup. Checkpoints provide water, electrolyte drinks, lollies, fruit and self-help first aid kits; cola is available at some checkpoints. No drop bags or support crews are permitted at checkpoints. Marshals and sweepers may withdraw participants who are unlikely to finish within cut-off limits. Parking is limited; access is via the SEQ Water access road and parking is only in designated SEQ Water areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
