Brig Bash
The Brig Bash is an annual summer evening five-mile road race held to the south of Perth. The 27th edition will take place on Wednesday 1st July 2026. Entries open on Entry Central on Tuesday 5th May at 8:00 pm; entry is by pre-entry only and there are no on-the-night entries. The minimum entry age is 16.
The course is tarmac and largely on quiet country roads, with less than 25 m of climbing in total. The distance is AUKCM certified. A map, a recorded course video and a Strava segment are maintained for the route. The event is licensed by Scottish Athletics and insurance is provided under that licence. A formal risk assessment is published for the race and first aid provision has been arranged.
Prizes are awarded for overall male and female finishers, a first non-binary finisher prize, team prizes using cross-country scoring, and age-category prizes where category entry numbers meet the stated minimum. Separate prizes are offered for course record and age-category record performances, and a prize is awarded for the fastest first mile each year. An after-race food spread is provided; contents vary.
The race began in 1998 and has been run most years since then; it was not held in 2020 and 2021 owing to COVID-19. Entry numbers have varied, with 330 places available in 2025 and typical fields running into the low hundreds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
