Breakthrough Trail 5K
The Breakthrough Trail 5K takes place on October 31, 2026 at Pamplin Historical Park, Hart Farm, 6915 Duncan Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. The event is a 5K / 3.1 Miles run/walk held on historic Civil War battlefield trails that start and end at the Hart Farm. The course surface is a mixture of uneven gravel and dirt trails.
Registration opens November 23, 2025 and closes October 9, 2026. The registration fee is $30.00 and includes park admission. Registrants should note there is no guarantee of a t-shirt for registrations completed after October 11.
The event includes a costume contest for registrants; the best costume receives a certificate and a $100.00 gift card. This is a family event and attire with offensive language or sexually explicit themes is not permitted.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall and in the following age categories: Youth 15 and under; Adults 16 to 30; 31 to 45; 46 to 60; and 61 and over.
Race day registration and packet pick-up are available. No strollers or children in carriers of any type are permitted on the race course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
