Breaking Barriers 5K
The Breaking Barriers 5K is a community running event held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, organized to support the women and children of the Lindsey House. The event celebrates the completion of a Couch to 5K program by residents of the transitional living facility, highlighting the physical and mental health benefits of exercise.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K
- 1-Mile Fun Run
The 5K course is USATF measured and certified. Both races start and finish in the parking lot near the Osage Prairie Trail entrance on the OSU Tulsa campus. The route utilizes the Osage Prairie Trail, which is the same location where the Lindsey House families conduct their training.
The event features professional timing provided by Jaguar Electronic RFID technology, with results available in real time. Participants in the 5K receive a finisher's medal, and awards are presented to the top three overall male and female winners, along with standard five-year age group awards. Registered participants receive a tri-blend race shirt, subject to availability. On-site amenities include snow cones and music from a professional DJ.
Registration remains open until the start of each race. Pre-event packet pick-up is hosted at RunnersWorld Tulsa, while race-day registration and packet pick-up are available at the race site. A virtual participation option is also available, allowing runners to upload their times manually or via a mobile application. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
