Event overview

The Bread Run 10K & Gingerbread 2-Miler takes place on December 7, 2025, at Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, MD (7300 MacArthur Blvd, 20812). The event includes a 10K race and a 2-mile fun run. The 10K uses a USATF-certified loop course along MacArthur Boulevard and the C&O Canal Towpath.

Registration and rules

Advance online registration closes the day before the race. Entry policies: free entry for DC Road Runners Club members and for participants who bring a home-baked loaf; non-members who do not bring a loaf pay a monetary fee. On-site registration is allowed only for participants who bring a loaf of bread. There are no refunds; participants who cannot run are asked to notify the organizers to free their spot. Participants should label baked goods with ingredients for allergy information.

Bread tradition and awards

Entry by home-baked loaf is a long-standing feature. After the race, loaves are exchanged and winners choose bread based on finish placement. The bread exchange and awards are part of the event format. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
