Brandon Vertical
Brandon Vertical is an uphill mountain race in County Kerry on Friday 17 July 2026. The route rises about 750 m over a distance of 3.90 km and has no short course. The event is part of the Irish Uphill League and carries a difficulty rating of 9 (3,3,3) indicating difficult terrain and more than 500 m of ascent.
The course follows the Cosán na Naomh pilgrim path from the Baile Breac carpark for roughly 3 km, then leaves the path for additional ascent and some short scrambling after the eighth station of the cross. The route is not marked; marshalls will be stationed at key points to reduce the chance of runners following the Brandon Ridge line instead of the Vert. GPS devices are permitted. The finish is at the summit cross. Start and registration are at Baile Breac carpark.
Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 13 July 2026 and close Thursday 16 July 2026; the field is limited to 250 places.
Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced and must be carried as required. Required items include a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone, foil blanket or bivvy bag, full waterproof leg cover, at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, map and compass. The final kit to be carried may be confirmed at registration. Random kit checks may be carried out and lack of required items can lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
A camping option is available at Rainbow Hostel Dingle, about 1.5 km from Dingle town; tent pitches are limited and early booking is recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
