Bowling Green Sprint Triathlon & Kids Triathlon
The event takes place at Preston Miller Park, 2303 Tomblinson Way, Bowling Green, Kentucky. It includes multiple divisions: Individual, Athena (165+ female weight class), Clydesdale (220+ male weight class), Triathlon Relay Team, Sprint Aquabike (swim and bike), and a Kids Triathlon.
The sprint course is composed of three segments. The swim is 400 meters in the Russel Sim Aquatic Center using 50-meter lanes in a serpentine format. The bike leg covers approximately 14 miles, leaving the park onto Veterans Boulevard, looping through neighborhood roadways and returning to the park via Veterans. The run is a 5 km out-and-back that starts at the transition area and follows park roads and trails; surfaces include pavement and rock chip.
The Kids Triathlon follows the adult events and uses shorter distances:
- 50 m swim
- 3 mile bike
- 1 mile run
Kids courses are being redeveloped in coordination with city officials for safety, and the kids event is part of the USA Triathlon Youth State Series. The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned; participants must have a USAT Annual Membership, which is available for one day purchase through registration. Each participant receives a shirt at registration and a finishers gift. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall, top masters male and female, and top three in age groups from 15-19 through 80+.
