Course and support

The route is an unmarked mixed course that includes vehicle tracks, flowing trails, sections of road, technical singletrack and boggy climbs. The main distance is:

  • 42 miles (about 68 km) with approximately 1,700 m (5,577 ft) of ascent.

Four fully equipped on-course aid stations will provide warm drinks, soups, sandwiches and a pasta meal at CP3. The entry fee includes on-course aid, a finishers meal and a finishers memento, GPX tracking for friends and family, and a bag drop at race HQ only. A map and route description are provided at registration; organisers recommend using GPS but advise preparing for analogue navigation because cold weather can drain batteries. A GPX for the main route and a bad weather/Eco route is available and the organisers will communicate which will be used. The event notes potentially severe January conditions in the north, including rain, ice, snow, high winds and frost. An option to purchase event cancellation cover is offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
