Bowland Ultra 2027
Bowland Ultra is an unmarked 42 miles (68 km) trail event starting and finishing at Slaidburn Village Hall in the Forest of Bowland. The route has about 1,700 m (5,577 ft) of ascent and uses a mix of vehicle tracks, flowing singletrack, road sections and boggy climbs. The course follows the same route used in 2025 and 2026; the route was revised in 2025 to reduce road and gravel sections and to add more singletrack.
Navigation is required. A map and route description are provided at registration and the main GPX file is published online; runners are advised to carry GPS devices but also to be prepared to use analogue navigation because cold weather can drain batteries. The organisers recommend OS map OL41 or the Harvey Bowland area map for those relying on paper navigation.
There are four on-course aid stations. Aid station 1 provides cold snacks and drinks only. Aid stations 2, 3 and 4 offer warm drinks, soups, sandwiches and hot food. Race headquarters provides bag storage; on-course bag drops are not available except for specific food requirements where organisers will try to assist. The event raises funds for Morecambe Bay Foodbank and other local charities. Because the event is held in January, conditions can include rain, ice, snow, high winds and frost; participants should plan accordingly.
Entry and refund rules include deadlines and partial refund options; transfers and refunds are subject to the stated conditions and deadlines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
