Event details

Bowland Ultra 2026 is scheduled for 10 January 2026 and uses Slaidburn Village Hall, Slaidburn, Clitheroe (BB7 3ES) as race HQ. The minimum age is 18. Entry types include affiliated and unaffiliated options with published entry fees. The event raises funds for Morecambe Bay Foodbank and other local charities.

Course, aid and logistics

The route is an unmarked mixed course of 42 miles (68 km) with about 1,700 m (5,577 ft) of ascent. Terrain includes vehicle tracks, flowing trails, road sections, singletrack and boggy climbs. Organisers provide four staffed aid stations offering warm drinks, soups and sandwiches, with a pasta meal at CP3. The entry fee includes the on-course aid, a finishers meal and a finishers memento. GPX files are available for the main route and an alternative bad weather/eco route. GPS tracking is provided for spectators. A map and a route description are issued at registration; participants are advised to carry a GPS device and to be prepared to use printed maps (OS OL41 or Harvey Bowland area map) because cold weather can reduce battery life. Safety teams will be on the hill and there is bag drop at race HQ; on-course bag drops are not provided except for specific food requirements. Organisers note that January conditions may include rain, ice, snow, high winds and frost. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
