Bournemouth Beach Race
The Bournemouth Beach Race takes place on the sand, starting from the west side of Bournemouth Pier. Participants run east toward Boscombe, following a route that consists of golden sand and requires runners to climb or leap over groynes along the shore. This event provides a different experience compared to standard road races, focusing on the physical effort required to navigate coastal terrain.
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 5K: Open to entrants aged 11 and over.
- 10K: Open to entrants aged 15 and over.
The event utilizes rolling starts, and the course remains open until 10:00. While there is no dedicated official event car park, various public parking options are located within a short walking distance. Free parking is available at West Overcliffe Drive, situated approximately a 10-minute jog from the starting area at Pier Approach.
Athletes are expected to follow a specific code of conduct emphasizing respect and sportsmanship. The location offers views of the sea throughout the course, with the beach and nearby town providing spaces for post-race activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
