Botanic Gardens Trail Auckland
The Botanic Gardens Trail takes place in the Auckland Botanic Gardens and the adjacent Totara Regional Park. This event offers participants the opportunity to traverse a landscape that includes cultivated garden beds, native bush, and sprawling regional parkland. The routes are designed to showcase a variety of natural scenery within the heart of Auckland.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 5 km (Short course) with 53m elevation gain.
- 10.8 km (Mid course) with 141m elevation gain.
- 14.5 km (Long course) with 227m elevation gain.
The terrain varies throughout the event to provide diverse underfoot conditions. The course composition consists of 55% well-formed gravel tracks, 25% paved footpaths, and 20% grass surfaces.
While the short course stays primarily within the garden areas, the mid and long courses extend further into the Totara Regional Park. These longer routes navigate through pockets of old-growth native bush and transition into the Nikau forest before returning to the Botanic Gardens. The event is open to both walkers and runners.
