About the race
Boréal X-Country is the 25th edition of a trail race held at the Centre de socioculturel de l'Île Bizard, 490 montée de l'Église, L'Île Bizard, Montréal. The event takes place on fine-gravel trails through a boreal woodland and uses well-marked paths.
Distances offered:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 km (children)
- Combo 5 km plus 10 km
The race is officially timed with a mass start so all runners begin together and official results are based on the start signal. The 5 km start is located on Montée de l'Église near the park entrance and is about a 10-minute walk from the socio-cultural centre. The 1 km for children follows shortly after the 10 km start, departs from the same start point, and is an out-and-back on rue de l'Église. Children must be 4 to 11 years old on race day; parents are invited to supervise their children as needed. All children receive a participation medal.
The event is described as eco-responsible with a community atmosphere. Awards include medals for the top three men and women, top three in each age group, and additional prizes from sponsors. Homemade food prepared by volunteers is available at the socio-cultural centre after the race, and a thematic gift is given to all runners.
