5KM BougeBouge Montreal Underground
The BougeBouge Montreal Underground event offers a unique running experience within the city's Underground Pedestrian Network, known as the RÉSO. This indoor race allows participants to exercise in a climate-controlled environment, avoiding the Quebec winter conditions while exploring a vast labyrinth of tunnels and buildings.
The main course is a 5 km route that starts at Carrefour Industrielle Alliance (Les Cours Mont-Royal) and finishes at Complexe Desjardins. The trajectory passes through various downtown landmarks, including Place Montreal Trust, Montreal Eaton Centre, Place Ville Marie, Central Station, the Palais des congrès de Montréal, and Complexe Guy-Favreau.
Participants can choose from the following options:
- 5 km Run
- 5 km Walk
- 1 km Run
The course features narrow corridors and multiple sets of stairs. Specific rules prohibit the use of mechanical escalators, and participants must climb and descend stairs one step at a time. Due to these stairs and narrow sections, strollers are not permitted on the course.
A water refill station is available at the 3 km mark at the World Trade Centre. This is a cup-free event, so runners must carry their own hydration equipment. A finisher's prize is provided at the finish line, and limited cloakroom services are available at both the start and finish locations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
