Event Overview
The Booneville Backroads Ultra is an ultramarathon event held on rural roads near Booneville, Iowa. The event offers several race distances: a 100-mile, a 100K, a 50K, and a 10K. The course runs through the countryside, including areas around the Bridges of Madison County.
Course and Logistics
The course features elevation gain and hills. In wet conditions, the level B roads can become challenging. For the 2026 event, the 50K, 100K, and 100-mile courses will be marked, while participants are still required to carry a cue sheet. Crew support will be permitted on the course, with restrictions of one crew vehicle per participant or per group of runners. This support is intended to be supplemental to the aid stations provided by the race.
Participant Information
A discount is offered for female participants who are members of a Trail Sisters group and are registering for the ultra-distance races (50K, 100K, or 100-mile). Registration for the event closes on a specified date before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
