Event overview
The Booneville Backroads Ultra takes place in Booneville, Iowa, with a start area near 120th St, Van Meter, IA. The event offers multiple distances:

The course runs through rural Iowa countryside and several Bridges of Madison County locations. The route includes thousands of feet of elevation gain, many hills, and level B roads that can become muddy or rough when it rains. The event is described as a grassroots race with small communities along the route. Registration opens December 1, 2025.
Changes for 2026
Organizers will mark the courses for the 50K, 100K, and 100 Miler in addition to the existing cue sheet system, though participants will still be required to carry cue sheets. Female members of Trail Sisters groups are eligible for a discount; the organizer will provide a discount code to qualifying participants. Crew support will be allowed on course with restrictions - typically one crew vehicle per participant or one crew vehicle per group - and this crew support is intended to be supplemental to aid stations.
