Booneville Backroads Ultra

Booneville Backroads Ultra is a trail and backroads running event in Booneville, Iowa, scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026. The course passes through the Bridges of Madison County and rural Iowa countryside and features substantial cumulative elevation gain and numerous hills. Weather can be variable and some unpaved level B roads can become difficult in rain. The event maintains a grassroots character and travels through small communities.

Organizers announced three 2026 changes. The 50K, 100K and 100 mile courses will be marked in addition to the existing cue sheet requirement. A discount is available for female runners who belong to a Trail Sisters group; interested participants must contact organizers for a discount code. Crew support will be permitted on course with restrictions: one crew vehicle per participant or one crew vehicle per group of runners. Crew support will be supplemental to aid stations and will include "grab and go" procedures; specific restrictions will be posted by the organizers later.
