Booneville Backroads Ultra
The Booneville Backroads Ultra is a set of races held in Booneville, Iowa, that follow rural backroads and pass through several of the Bridges of Madison County. The course includes thousands of feet of elevation gain and numerous hills; when wet, level B roads on the route can become especially rough.
Distances offered include:
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 50K
- 10K
Organizers announced planned changes for upcoming races that affect the ultra distances. The 50K, 100K, and 100-mile courses will be marked while participants will still be required to carry cue sheets. Women who belong to Trail Sisters groups are eligible for a discount; the event is Trail Sisters-approved. Crew support will be allowed on the course with restrictions: one crew vehicle per participant or one crew vehicle per group. Crew support is intended to supplement existing aid stations, and specific rules for that support will be published by the organizers.
The event retains features described by the organizers such as unpredictable fall weather, rural communities along the route, and a grassroots organization approach. Registration closes on Fri, Aug 28 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
