Bookish 5K and Cookie Fun Run at Waterloo Library and Historical Society
The Waterloo Library and Historical Society presents the 2026 Bookish 5K and the Cookie Fun Run If You Give A Pig A Party. The event includes an in person 3.1 mile Bookish 5K, an in person 1 mile Cookie Fun Run around the library area, and a virtual 3.1 mile Bookish 5K option. The Bookish 5K is the third annual Stories in Stride event and the 2026 5K theme is listed as TBD.

The first 100 Bookish 5K registrants are guaranteed a book themed T shirt and medal. Fun Run participants will receive a cake themed medal and the 1 mile run includes two pieces of cake for participants after the run. Children under 5 enter free and those registrations under 5 will receive a copy of this year’s book.
Registration opens on April 1 and closes on August 15 for in person events; the virtual registration has a later closing date. Entry fees are listed as 5K walk run thirty five dollars and Cookie Run fifteen dollars. In the event of a cancellation there are no refunds and entry fees will be used as a donation to the Waterloo Library and Historical Society.
