Spooky Sprint - Des Moines
Spooky Sprint is a Halloween-themed running event held in Des Moines, Iowa on October 31, 2027. The event offers a range of in-person and virtual options and includes race-day services such as chip timing with live results, awards, free photos, and finish-line treats.
Distances and formats include:
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- 10K (6.2 Miles)
- 5K (3.1 Miles)
- 1 Mile (untimed)
- Kids Dash (ages 10 and under)
- Virtual Race
Many in-person distances include a custom bib, designer shirt, and a finisher medal. The kids dash provides a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a child-specific medal; children may run the kids dash for free on race day if they opt out of the swag. The virtual race allows participants to run anywhere and still receive event swag.
There are different registration fees by event, including listed fees of $50 for the half marathon, $30 for several road distances, $22 for the 1 mile, $17 for the kids dash, $42 for the virtual race, and a $0 option for an approved Running Buddy role. Registration opens as early as 9/22/2025 for some events; some events close registration months before race day while others close on race day.
A volunteer-then-run option asks volunteers to arrive 30 minutes before packet pickup and allows volunteers to run any distance afterward. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
