BMF UTA UTA22 Course training run : Scenic World to Queen Victoria Hospital area
This training run follows the UTA22 course through the Blue Mountains with added sections from the UTA11, UTA50, UTA100 and UTA Miler to provide between 18 km and 28 km of trail distance. The route starts at the UTA22 start near Queen Victoria Hospital and finishes at Scenic World, travelling along Kedumba Valley Road, past Leura Creek, Jamison Creek, the Helipad, the old Sewer Plant, Leura Forest and Federal Pass, and finishing via Furber Steps or Giant Stairs depending on access.
Run leaders hold a National Parks and Wildlife ECO PASS licence and insurance to operate on the trails. Multiple pace groups are provided, typically including a slower group, a mid paced group and a faster group, and guides remain with participants so runners are not left behind. Options are offered to do extra kilometres for mid and fast groups or to shorten the route to about 18 km using a shortcut near the Sewer Plant. A water drop is planned near the old Sewer Plant around 17 km on the 22 km route and additional stashes can be provided for extra distance runners.
The session is presented as race preparation. Trainers will discuss race gear, nutrition, pacing and strategy. Minimum age is 16 and the entry fee is A$80. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
