Bluffton Independence Day 5K
The Bluffton Independence Day 5K takes place on July 2 at the New Riverside Barn Park in Bluffton, South Carolina. The event program includes multiple youth and adult distance options:
- 5K Run Walk
- Kids 5K under 12
- Kids Fun Run 400 m for children 8 and under, free
The 5K is stroller and dog friendly and benefits the Mayor's "Stay Safe, Bluffton!" campaign. Proceeds provide student scholarships to promote safe driving in Bluffton and Beaufort County.
The kids fun run is titled "Chase Uncle Sam" and is a short loop around the park; all participants receive a prize. A patriotic costume contest offers a grand prize gift card to a local restaurant.
Awards include the Mayor's Cup for the top overall male and female winners, whose names will be engraved and displayed at Bluffton Town Hall. Custom medals will be awarded to the top three in each age division: 12U, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80. Top three dogs will also be recognized.
Packet pickup is scheduled for July 1 at New Riverside Red Barn Park. The first 400 registrants will receive a race shirt. Post race activities include live music, food trucks, beer, a T shirt cannon and an awards ceremony. The following day features a town pre party and fireworks at local parks.
