Blue Crab Bolt @ Seneca Creek
The Blue Crab Bolt at Seneca Creek serves as the opening event for the Blue Crab Bolt Trail Running Series. Located at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, Maryland, the event features singletrack hiking trails, views of the lake, and scenic streams. The course is designed to traverse the park woods using established trail networks.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5K (actual distance 3.3 miles) with 200 feet of elevation gain.
- 10K (actual distance 6.4 miles) with 450 feet of elevation gain.
A free race for children is also held on-site. This short out-and-back run is organized by age groups and does not require pre-registration.
The event provides professional race operations including medical support, aid stations, and chip timing. Participants receive a tri-blend t-shirt, and finishers have the option to pre-order or purchase a race medal on-site. Those who complete all three races in the Blue Crab Bolt series are eligible for a special series medal. Post-race amenities include breakfast burritos and other food items.
Race rules prohibit the use of in-ear headphones, pets, pacers, and baby strollers on the course. Outside assistance is restricted to 50 meters from aid stations. Parking is available in grass overflow areas and paved lots within the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
