Blouklip Trail Run : Waterford Estate, Stellenbosch
The Blouklip Trail Run takes place along the Blouklip River and routes that ascend toward the Helderberg mountain and run along Stellenbosch mountain, passing several wineries and indigenous trees on the farm.
Routes and categories include:
- Blouklip Xtreme : 25 km, approximately 1 450 m elevation
- Blouklip Xplore : 15 km, approximately 700 m elevation
- Blouklip Xperience : 8 km, approximately 250 m elevation
- Blouklip Spectator : 0.1 km
The Xplore and Xtreme courses reach the neck at Lourensford and offer views of the Helderberg Dome and Suurberg. The Xplore route approaches the foot of the Dome, follows single-track paths at De Trafford Wines, passes Keermont vineyards and runs along the river under a tree canopy. The course includes an old bridge and sections through areas where indigenous trees are part of a WWF-supported farm ecosystem.
Logistics and event services: entries are online only; aid stations are provided on all three main distances; parking at the venue is limited so sharing rides is encouraged. Compulsory kit may include a hydration pack for Xplore and Xtreme, a rain jacket and a charged phone, depending on the day’s weather.
