About the race
Bloomsday is an annual road race in Spokane, Washington, organized by the Lilac Bloomsday Association. The main event is a 12-kilometer (7.46 mile) course held each May that uses city streets and passes local landmarks. The event has been held since 1977 and draws thousands of participants.
The Bloomsday weekend includes several related events and participation options:
- 12 km Bloomsday race through Spokane streets
- 1 mile Marmot March for children third grade or younger
- Junior Bloomsday for participants in 3rd–7th grade
- Corporate Cup team competition, teams of 3 to 5 employees
- Virtual Bloomsday option
Race services and event features described by the organizer include packet pickup and check-in, weekend schedule details, on-course entertainment, water aid stations, parking and transportation information, hotels listing, and a finisher T-shirt with an annual design contest. The event includes an elite field with seeding and prize money and is part of the PRRO Circuit of road races. The Lilac Bloomsday Association selects an official charity partner each year; charities receive participant donations, may sell items, and are offered a complimentary trade show booth.
