Bloomsday
Bloomsday is an annual road race organized by the Lilac Bloomsday Association in Spokane, Washington. The main event covers 12 kilometers (7.46 miles) and is held each May. The event includes elite competition and seeded fields, plus prize money for top finishers.
The Bloomsday program also features several related events and participation options. A youth race called Junior Bloomsday serves participants in grades 3 to 7. Marmot March is a family-friendly 1-mile walk/run for children in third grade or younger. There is also a Corporate Cup team competition and a Virtual Bloomsday option. The association selects an official charity partner each year; charities receive participant donations, fundraising opportunities, and a booth at the event trade show.
Race information materials cover check-in and packet pickup, start process, weekend schedules, finisher shirts, water aid stations, parking and transportation, and training guidance. Bloomsday is part of the PRRO Circuit, a group of non-marathon road racing events. The event has a long history in Spokane and numbered anniversaries are noted for each running.
