The Blazin' Battle Against Brain Cancer
The Blazin' Battle Against Brain Cancer is a running event taking place on May 17, 2026. It includes four event options: an in-person 10k, an in-person 5k, and virtual versions of both distances.
The event is held in memory of a Providence firefighter and benefits The Rhode Island Brain & Spine Tumor Foundation (RIBSTF). Its aim is to fulfill his wish to help others facing a brain or spine cancer diagnosis. Participant support directly aids the foundation's mission to provide education, spiritual, and financial support to patients and their families, as well as to assist research in the field.
The in-person races start at Deerfield Park on Lisa Ann Circle in Greenville, Rhode Island. Bib pickup is available on the day of the event.
Awards are presented for top overall male and female finishers in both the 5k and 10k, as well as for first place in each age group. The event is a partner race for the NE 65+ Running Club and the 10k is part of the RI Grand Prix Race Series.
The organizers note that dogs and strollers are not permitted in the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
