About the race
The Black Mountains Ultra is a trail running event held in Crickhowell, Powys, within the scenic Brecon Beacons National Park. It offers multiple distances: a 50-mile ultra, a 32-mile ultra, a marathon, and a half marathon. All courses are self-navigated with live tracking and full support, including checkpoints, water stations, and food provisions—especially a mid-way food stop for the 50-mile ultra.
The event caters to both elite and less experienced runners, providing strong support with experienced back runners and on-site physio services. Support crews and spectators are welcome, and all finishers receive food and medals. The event emphasizes navigation skills on unmarked routes through beautiful mountainous terrain.
