Black-Eyed Pea 5K
The Black-Eyed Pea 5K is part of the Jamburgeree festival in Athens, Texas, held on October 17, 2026. The event starts and finishes at the Cain Center YMCA (214 Loyola Drive, Athens) and follows a course that passes through Cain Park and along Robbins Road before returning to the Cain Center.
The program features a timed 5K and a separate Family Fun Run of roughly one mile that loops through Cain Park. 5K participants receive chip-timed results and are eligible for overall and age-division awards. Registration includes an official event T-shirt while supplies last and a participant swag bag. Packet pickup is available on race day only. Organizers note that all registrations are completed through the Active registration system and that paper registration is not offered.
The race is presented by UT Health Athens, with support from partners including UT Health EMS and the Athens Amateur Radio Club, along with Chamber volunteers and sponsors. After the event, downtown Jamburgeree activities include live entertainment, vendors, food, and family activities, and the race is scheduled to connect with those festival offerings.
