Black Cat Chase 3K
The Black Cat Chase 3K is a community running event located in Downtown Frankfort, Kentucky. The race features a Halloween-themed atmosphere with various festivities for participants and spectators. The event includes a costume contest, performances by Thriller Parade dancers, a high school marching band, and seasonal music. The route begins and ends in front of the Old Capitol lawn.
Due to local construction, the race follows a condensed route that stays within the downtown area to accommodate traffic and emergency vehicles. Participants can choose between the following event options:
- 3K (1.864 miles)
- Virtual 3K
The race utilizes electronic chip timing to provide fast and accurate results, with an option for participants to receive their finish times via text or email. Awards are presented to the top five overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three participants in multiple age divisions ranging from 10 and under to 80 and over.
Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team. Teams with at least five members are eligible for specific discounts and can compete for team award plaques. A costume parade takes place before the race, and awards for the best group costumes are distributed during the ceremony.
