The BK5K in Carrollton is the fifth annual running event organized to raise funds for area youth. All proceeds go to various 501.c.3 youth organizations and programs that demonstrate financial need; grants are evaluated and dispersed by the local BK5K Youth Fund Award Committee.
The event is held at North Lakeshore Greenbelt Trailhead, 116 Lumpkin Dr, Carrollton, GA 30117. Distances include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids Fun Run (ages 12 and under)
Registration is available online through October 16, with an early registration period ending October 8. Race day registration and packet pickup are available on site. T-shirt sizes are not guaranteed after the early registration period.
Entry fees for online registration are listed by age group:
- 5K Adults 18 and older: $17 early, $20 after early period, $25 race day.
- 5K Youth 17 and younger: $7 early, $10 after early period, $15 race day.
- Kids Fun Run (12 and younger): free during online registration, $5 race day.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three female and top three male finishers with amounts of $200, $100, and $50; winners may accept or donate prize money back to local youth grants. Trophies are awarded to the top three overall finishers and medals to the top three in each age group, with categories for men and women. Awards are presented after the Kids Fun Run.
