Bizz Johnson's Southside Scramble : Event
The event takes place on June 20, 2026, at the Hobo Camp Day Use Area in Susanville, CA. All races start and finish at Hobo Camp. Runners head up the Bizz Johnson Trail for the outbound portion and return on the Southside Trail across the Susan River. On odd years the course is run in reverse. Course highlights include singletrack, rockslides, vista points, and a seasonal foot bridge.

Logistics and services
Aid stations serve fruit, salty snacks, Heed electrolyte, and water. Aid Station #1 is on the Bizz Johnson Trail at the lower end of the lower tunnel (Mile 3.8). Aid Station #2 is at Devil's Corral at the Southside trail turnoff (Mile 5.94) for the 22K. Aid Station #3 is on the Southside Trail just above the Twin Bridges access trail, about 2 miles from the finish. This is a cup-less race; runners must bring their own hydration system. A collapsible cup is provided at packet pickup.
Parking at Hobo Camp is limited; carpooling is recommended. Additional parking is available at Miller Road (about 0.25 mile walk) and at the Bizz Johnson Trailhead by the Susanville Historic Train Depot (about 0.75 mile walk). Packet pickup is at the Susanville Historic Train Depot on the Friday before the race, with race morning pickup available at Hobo Camp. Finishers receive a custom medal and a custom beach towel. Overall awards are given 1st–3rd (M/F/NB) and age-group awards 1st–3rd in 10-year groups. The race is capped at 150 runners and is Trail-Sisters approved.
